After passing his Grade IV operator exam in May 2021, Nick was promoted to Plant Manager the following year. In this role, he has made substantial strides in operator training and workload management, ensuring effective team performance and high employee satisfaction.

Under Nick’s leadership, he has successfully completed four major capital improvement projects at the Eastside Utility’s Water Treatment Plan:

  1. Transitioned from chlorine gas to sodium hypochlorite (bleach) as the primary disinfectant.
  2. Renovated the Water Treatment Plant’s filter system including all controls, instrumentation, valves, and valve actuators.
  3. Upgraded the Water Treatment Plant SCADA system.
  4. Automation of the treatment plan’s backup power system.

Nick’s exceptional leadership also extends beyond project management. He hosts students to learn more about water treatment and the water utility field. Nick’s efforts within the community make the water utility accessible for tomorrow’s leaders. As a young father raising a family of his own, Nick provides above and beyond leadership by making water treatment, engineering, and the water utility industry accessible to the next generation, which is commendable and worthy of recognition.
